These lines can be appended to your /etc/magic file to add additional description when using the "file" command on "font files and phone directories". Each of these have distinct magic numbers, so why not add them to the /etc/magic file. I prefer the detailed description over just "data". While on the subject, here are some goodies from my /etc/magic (I'm pretty sure that all of these were my own addition; perhaps "compressed data" was already in there?). 98 long 0x00002020 tar archive 0 short 0x1f9d compressed data 0 short 0x1a01 compiled terminfo description 0 long 0x0000018e Unix PC window font (binary) 0 string # magic 0x18e Unix PC window font (ascii) 0 long 0x000003f3 AmigaDOS executable 0 short 0x601a Regulus 601a executable 0 short 0x601b Regulus 601b executable 0 short 0x4d5a Ms.DOS executable 0 short 0xffffeb34 Ms.DOS file system 0 string BABYL OPTIONS: Emacs rmail file -- -=] Ford [=- . .
