[unix-pc.general] Trailblazer woes resolved, sort of

...I have a UNIX PC with a built-in 300/1200 modem called the OBM.
...These beasts cause trouble when communicating with Trailblazer
...modems, even at the mutually supported speeds. However, it
...seemed that some people were getting these things to work, and
...I was not. I finally found out why.
...
...I got some pretty complete information from jimmy@denwa.uucp, who
...was having better luck than I was. The short version of the
...story is that it works if you don't lock the interface speed on
...the 'blazer.

That's not the whole story. I regularly communicate with a 3B2/400 that
has a Trailblazer Plus from any of three different UPCs, each with an
OBM. No sweat. However, a student with a UPC with OBM reported that he
could not log in to the 3B2 using the Telephone Manager. His profile is
identical to one I use. Both of us have 3.51 software. ???

...The failure is odd, too: calling from a 'blazer to an OBM, you
...can type all you want, and receive umodem transfers, but you
...never get anywhere sending a file by umodem. The first sector
...never gets acknowledged, and the receiving system reports never
...getting it. You can see it being transmitted over and over and
...over by watching the modem lights. Hard to tell whose fault this
...one is, but I suspect neither modem is blameless.

Whatfile xfr program is running on the machine with the 'blazer? I use
rzsz on my 3B2 and have no trouble with XMODEM xfrs in either direction.
