One of the marketing people there sent my an "original" (1st generation) photocopy of the FIELD P5.1 UPGRADE. He said (and I quote) "I will send you a good 1st generation photocopy if I can forward all future requests to you." I agreed so again I offer my assistance in getting the photocopies to the rest of you... I see *NO* reason why anyone at AT&T or CT would mind since this information was given to me legally. Both AT&T and CT want to forget the UNIX PC (S/50) and go on to new work... For those who missed my posting about 6 months ago, I'll again offer to send anyone a photocopy of the 9 pages instructions for the FIELD P5.1 upgrade of the UNIX PC motherboard. Once you receive these instructions it is up to you to find someone to program the PAL with the equations (included) and then you need to install 9 jumper wires to your motherboard. Once this is done, and you turn on your machine you will see the P3..5 replace with P5.1. Then you will be able to install hard drives greater than 8 heads. This gives you 1 more bit (4 bits total) so hard drives up to 15 heads are now available. Please send cash or check for $2.50 (to cover my costs of copying and mailing back [shipping and handling]) to: Lenny Tropiano ICUS Software Systems AT&T UNIX PC - Field Upgrade P5.1 PO Box 1 Islip Terrace, New York 11752 I also now have a copy of the special diagnostic disk that will allow you to format greater than 1024 cylinders (if you do the WD1010 to WD2010 disk controller upgrade as well), partition your hard drive for multiple partitions other than just "/". It has entries already in the table for the *big* Maxtor drives (eg. 1140 and 2190). If you want this please send cash or check for $5.00 (again to cover my time and costs for mailing) in a *REUSABLE* disk mailer with a disk already formatted in 8 sectors per track (ie. fdfmt.nl) This is important that it is pre-formatted. Please check your formatting with: $ iv -vt /dev/rfp020 Floppy disk Volume Name: Floppy 40 Cylinders. 2 Heads per Cylinder. There are 8 Physical Sectors (of 512 bytes) per Track. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ... If this says 10, please reformat as 8 sectors per track. Mail this (again in a reusable disk mailer) to: Lenny Tropiano ICUS Software Systems AT&T UNIX PC - Diagnostic Disk & P5.1 Upgrade PO Box 1 Islip Terrace, New York 11752 I will return to you the diagnostic disk as well as the instructions to the upgrade. -Lenny -- Lenny Tropiano ICUS Software Systems [w] +1 (516) 582-5525 lenny@icus.islp.ny.us Telex; 154232428 ICUS [h] +1 (516) 968-8576 {talcott, decuac, boulder, hombre, pacbell, sbcs}!icus!lenny attmail!icus!lenny ICUS Software Systems -- PO Box 1; Islip Terrace, NY 11752
