I just saw some brochure for the AT&T Overview Scanner. This device appears to be a palette with lights on two sides and an overhead image scanner. It digitizes printed material and transmits the digitized bit map to a 6300/MSDOS-compatible computer for printing, storing, or later modification via paint programs. NOW, my question is, since I had heard that a similar device had been planned and some prototypes built for the UNIX-PC, does anyone have any information about this? Were there plans or schematics or software? I have the Image Director that mentions the scanner board. Is this device perchance a 6300-ized version of that unit? And could Paint Power deal with modifications of the images produced by it? What kind of interface does that thing have, and could it be modified to work on the 3B1? Finally, and more generally, do most paint programs store bit maps about the same way? (Larry M., you listening?) - Mark G.
