[unix-pc.general] ka9q TCP/IP 871225.30 on lazlo

ccs@lazlo.UUCP (Clifford C. Skolnick) (12/19/88)

Ok,

I guess there aer alot of people out there who want the ka9q source!
I have put it only lazlo for anonymous UUCP in ~uucp/ka9q.30.Z which is
about 260K long. The makefile has been configured for Unix System V, and
a few tweeks to take care of the lack of blksize() on a 3b1 and some
index()->strchr() stuff.

Here's and L.sys entry for anonymous UUCP on lazlo (HDB style).

I have also put an executable in ~uucp/e.ka9q.30.Z which is about 70K
long. This executable is stripped, unstripped it's 450K!. It has been
compiled with GCC 1.30 without shared libraries.

New plans for my Xmas that have just been made will force me to take lazlo
down on 12/21 sometime in the morining for approcimately one week. So if
you want the TCP/IP source, please pick it up FAST or be prepared to wait
a week.

Just pulled it off today. Thanks. Is there any way to make
the ka9 package act as a server for a SysV machine? I would
like to have my 3b1, and various PC's be able to run SLIP into
	my 3b2/310.
	Thanks for any pointers.

Thanks, I picked up a copy too - now we'll see if it runs on 386/ix as
well as 3b1's.

However, is there any documentation on this thing or pointers to some?
I've managed to successfully "attach" an asy, but that's it - haven't
been able to figure out how to do anything else with it.

[Incidentally, for those of you having fun with it and are trying to use
the embedded version of malloc and friends, watch out! the HEADER
struct is *8* bytes long on most machines, not 4 bytes, and the following
changes should be made to alloc.c for those machines:

the roundup in malloc should be
		((nb + 7) >> 3) + 1
	not
		((nb + 3) >> 2) + 1

Similarly, all of the shift left 2's and shift right 2's should be 3's...

Alternatively (this is a far superior *portable* solution), use:

		((nb + sizeof(HEADER) - 1) % sizeof(HEADER)) + 1

If you did this, it wouldn't matter how big HEADER was. - Incidentally,
this was after I converted to UNIX the other PC-version that was offered
publically]
