Hi netlanders, I have received over 20 requests for the improved 3b1 TeX previewer so far. Many of these requests are for the complete sources for this program. Let me tell you about the situation and please mail me any suggestions on distributing this program. The original TeXview package is a huge set of files that implements the TeXview on tens of printers and machines. It is about 0.5 Meg compressed tar file excluding a compressed Meg of fonts and macros. However, for the new 3b1 previewer only 3 files are changed and 2 more are added. I certainly cannot post the whole sources but can post the modified and new files required for the 3b1 at any time. The other alternative is to make a stripped version of the previewer for the 3b1 which will be about 150K, but this will take some time and I do not know how legal is it (????). The new previewer can be linked with the shared libraries and the executable size is less than 50k compared to the original 150k+. I'd appreciate any comments and suggestions. ============================================================================ || Muhammad S. Benten | || Elect. & Comp. Eng. Does this mean I can get the "official" TeX sources, and just use your extra files n diffs to make it work on my machine? If so, why not just post the diffs and leave us to get the "official" part of the sources on our ownsome. -- "I think it would be fun to run a newspaper." -- C.F.K. J. Since the net has recently been blessed with a 60 part X window manager and a 40 part astrophysical data base, I'm sure many of us would look forward to seeing your posting of something as useful as this TeX previewer.
