Well, I've received 31 comments regarding removing net.flame. They run 9 against, 22 for. The ones against are deservedly worried about the contents of net.flame spilling into other newsgroups after it is removed. The for's were varied in comments, the spillover being the predominant comment. Two of the "against" letters were from a school on the west coast, the authors of these letters accused me of "... a wimp who would faint if anyone ever disagreed with anyone else". I leave it to those in net.politics, net.religion, and net.audio to evaluate that comment for themselves. I don't think that this plurality is good enough for anyone to say that net.flame should be eliminated, but it is clear that a significant number of people regard it as a threat to the net. Some replies indicated that those individuals were taking action regarding their site. (These are not counted in the 31 since they didn't (generally) have a for or against stance.) "... It was over when he had the plan, to start a-workin' on ..." <Mail to me will not achieve much in the near future, I'm heading into anintense time. Don't bother, unless it's something utterly new.> -- TEDDY BEARS MAY BECOME EXTINCT! HELP AN ENDANGERED SPECIES! "It was great when it all began, ..." (ihnp4/allegra)!alice!jj
