These are the files I deleted after installing command. This list assumes certain things about your knowledge and about programs you have installed to replace those that are deleted. Note that I have not removed all the programs that perform ua-type functions. However, these are no longer executed from ua. These assumptions are as follows. -- you have command, or do not use ua for other reasons (I just posted command. It, in brief, sits on the top of the screen and starts up programs in their own windows.) -- you have mtools, or will never want to deal with MSDOS disks (mtools is a public domain program that deals with MSDOS disks more conveniently than ua) -- you know how to mount, dismount, copy, and fsck floppies (see mount(1m), umount(1m), /usr/bin/fc (floppy copy utility), and fsck(1m)) -- you know how to edit /etc/passwd (see passwd(1), passwd(4)) -- you know how to do backups from the shell (see cpio(1), or get afio) -- you don't use the Asynchronous Terminal Emulator (see cu(1), or use kermit) -- you don't use pcal Note the following: I have definitely screwed up my system in the following ways: - the program /usr/bin/message fails half the time, for unknown reasons. - the phone manager sometimes insists that I am not logged in. Neither of these happened when I removed the files: they happened before, for unknown reasons. Thus I make no guarantees about this list of files; removing them can easily cause minor problems such as the ones above. In the process of removing most of ua, I also made a list of the various stand-alone programs that can be executed from a shell, and do things I don't know how to do. Here they are, referenced by the menus from which they are selected using ua.
