A friend has informed me of the creation of the newsgroup mod.rec.guns. (Many thanx, Jeff Hull.) I post this to clarify just one thing. Contrary to current rumor, the mailing list mail.firearms is not dead. It is alive and reasonably well, and living in Columbus, OH. (Well, I moderate it and that's where I live; close enough.) It *did* get rather sick about a month back, or rather *I* got sick, but the problems have been overcome and the list marches forward as before. Jordan Hubbard posted a couple articles proposing the creation of mod.rec.guns. That was the first I'd heard from that part of the net world in quite some time. My mail path to Jordan had been through twg, and as everyone and his dog knows, twg appears quite dead. Not knowing how else to get to site `greipa,' I was left afloat on an iceberg, hunting for a way to get to greipa. Alas, it appears I never made it, since I never heard from Jordan. Sigh. Anyway, now we apparently have both the mailing list and the moderated news group. Personally, I don't think they're in conflict with each other, but there is the distinct chance that traffic will divert entirely to one or the other, resulting in the death of something. Such is life on the network, I suppose. As always, anyone interested in receiving mail.firearms should check the blurb from nsc!chuqui in mod.newslists, and drop me a note. We currently have about 55 people, and I'm trying to get the digests out every 2 weeks or thereabouts. -- Karl Kleinpaste
