[net.dcom] 3270 software

lars@enea.UUCP (Lars L|vsen) (09/08/86)

I am working in a project where we want to

    a. take advantage of the *NIX and C portability
	characteristics
    b. connect our system to a remote host with an
IBM 3270 protocol. Since our system is a
multiuser system it has to simulate a cluster
	controller.
    c. connect our system to an external system
providing information to our program. Today
that information is typed in by the operator
	manually.
    d. have access to each user's screen image, being
able to add information to, and extract
	information from, it
    e. be able to have exclusive use to the screen
	image from our software, preventing
	interference from the operator
    f. be able to wait for events like "complete
	screen received from host"
    g. generate function keystrokes from our software

We have contact with several vendors offering
3270-packages. None, but IBM, offers the
possibility to add your own software for the
    application-oriented interaction with the host.
The IBM software (3270-PC High Level Language
Application Program Interface) however runs in a
single-user environment, and we need a multiuser
    solution.

The suppliers seem rather reluctant to add the
facility to their products, although there is a
welldefined interface from IBM. Is there anyone
knowing about any supplier offering what we need,
    or something similar, please contact:

D.L.Buck&Associates, Inc. is a supplier of BSC and SNA 3270
terminal emulator software, among other things; our software
does have a programmatic interface with the features mentioned.
The software is available through a number of UNIX system
manufacturers; if you are a manufacturer, we can put it on
your system in a short period of time.
As I believe it improper to advertise over the net, please
inquire further by mail to me.
