[unix-pc.general] Copy of rn on skeeve updated

arnold@skeeve.UUCP (Arnold D. Robbins) (01/07/90)

The copy of rn available on skeeve for anonymous uucp has been updated
to patchlevel 44. Stan Barber of NNTP fame has taken over official
maintenance of the current version of rn, and recently posted some patches.

The file rn.cpio.Z in skeeve!~uucp/dist is a cpio archive of the kits
as ftp'ed from lib.tmc.edu.

For those of you who picked up rn.cpio.Z from skeeve before Jan 7, I
have provided a patch file to upgrade that version to the current one.
It is in rn.patch.Z.  The first part of the patch file is self explanatory;
it's included below.

I will shortly be posting the skeeve access instructions; most people
should have them.
-------------------------------------------
# This patch file is provided as a convenience for those people who
# have picked up rn from the archive on skeeve. It was run against
# my copy of the old rn and the version of the new rn ftp'ed straight
# from the maintainer's machine, lib.tmc.edu.
#
# To guarantee that you are up to date, you should really uucp a fresh
# copy of rn.cpio.Z from skeeve. However, you can try first to apply
# these patches.
#
# Uncpio the old archive as you got it from skeeve.
# Cd to that directory, and then run this file through /bin/sh. It
# will run patch via a Here Document. Delete the old files.
#
# If this bombs, just get a fresh copy of rn from skeeve; the new
# cpio file is a cpio archive of the distribution kits. If patch
# runs with no problems, you can feel reasonably confident that you
# are up to date.
