Well there was "minimal" hacks done on the diagnostics software (s4diag), but
none of them ever made it to a fix disk release.  In fact, I'm not using
any of the beta copies sent to me.   The enhancements involved were basically
for the ability of formatting and testing the "2nd disk" [easier than it 
is now].   Also the ambiguity of the "DR" command in the interactive device
test (31) from the expert menu was fixed.   (DR could be "drive" or "data
register")

The main problems I saw with these fixes was the person at AT&T couldn't test
it.  I tested the format of drive 2 once, and it selected drive 1.  That was
the first and last time I tested it.  

Other than that, it was nothing "new and exciting" AT&T was holding back.
