Announcing a new member of the osu-cis archive family: -rw-rw-r-- 1 ftp 10 175199 Apr 12 19:31 kern.cpio.Z Relocatable object files used to link the 3.51m kernel. Now, please indulge me while I make a suggestion. Now that we have all the object modules, we're all going to run right out and start hacking until our collective brain turns to oat bran, right? And so we can all expect to see the consequent slew of "my fav'rite kernel mod" articles on the net. SOMEONE should keep track of all this (and it won't be me, though osu-cis would certainly be an appropriate storage place). I think this is an issue worth considering. -- Brant Cheikes University of Pennsylvania, Department of Computer and Information Science brant@manta.pha.pa.us, brant@linc.cis.upenn.edu, bpa!manta!brant

Before people go off and start hacking with the kernel, I'd just like to say that I've been working with the kernel the past few days and I've been able to reverse engineer conf.c. I'll be posting the source to conf.c to the net in the next few days so don't bother spending any time duplicating my efforts. -- Managing a software development team | Mark Dapoz is a lot like being on the psychiatric | ...uunet!mnetor!hybrid!mdapoz ward. -Mitch Kapor, San Jose Mercury | mnetor!hybrid!mdapoz@cs.toronto.edu
