For quite some time I've been having system crashes. I've scraped the connectors, blew out the dust bunnies, checked the power supply and reseated the CPU. The error messages don't show up in /usr/adm/unix.log, they just come up on the console as the system crashes. John Milton's hardware notes explain how to find a bad chip but my error messages are not of the same format as his example. I have no idea which numbers correspond to his examples. John, can you help me here? Below is a typical error report I get. If anyone can make any sense out of this I would be very happy. It would be even nicer if someone could tell me WHICH chip was bad but I can't be greedy :^) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *hpte:0x4008 <-- Processor ParityErr type=0x1F,pid=0,pc=0x871A,rps=0x2008,p=0x4B3EC GSR=DD00,BSR0=FC00,BSR1=871A PHYPSF=8 D0=2008,D1=2600,D2=80,D3=FFFFB1E0 D4=FFFFFC43,D5=FFFF0000,D6=1,D7=0 A0=51D58,A1=51D58,A2=0,A3=0 A4=0,A5=3000,A6=7085C,userA7=2FFF50/kernA7=70854 KI-RAM@8714:67064AAE 000866B2 42B90002 17C008F9 KS-RAM@70854: 00002600 00002600 0007087C 0000BD8A FFFFFFF 00000007 0004B3EC 0002643C 00428000 00003000 00070894 0000BA3C 0000050 26040000 0004B5AC 00000000 panic: NMI(kernel parity error) push hardware reset to reboot ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Additional info: 3b1, 2 meg on mother, Priam 519(equiv to Maxtor 2140) P5.1, WD2010, 3.51m.
