Joe - recording messages can be used for exactly this purpose, and in fact, a sample recording for net.jokes was posted a couple weeks ago. Forcing people to use postnews instead of inews or mail is not the solution, and I don't think you'll find anybody doing it. (Recordings do not solve the mail problem, unfortunately, and I don't know of a solution to this problem.) It is becoming clear that there should be at least one standard recording for each net.all newsgroup on each site. Hopefully a full set will be in the next news release (which probably won't be for some time). Certainly there have been people misusing net.jokes in the last couple weeks since net.jokes.q died - I had hoped that ug.jokes would get this traffic, but I don't know if that newsgroup exists yet. Is Indian Hill still running an ancient version of news that does not support any recent features? Mark
