This has been floating around the net from time to time and no one has ever (that I know of) found the reason. I may have. I have noticed on two occasions now two copies of uuxqt running at once. There is supposed to be a lockout to prevent this. The news history file check should still prevent two separate invocations of rnews from depositing the same article twice, but I'll bet without looking at the code that there is no lockout on READing the history file. The articles are clearly duplicates; they have the same article ID. I have also on one occasion gotten two copies of the same mail message, but since news traffic far outweighs mail traffic, this is not as common. Unless someone else has found a bug in the uuxqt lockout and wants to tell me about it, I'll take a look over the weekend. - Alan S. Watt
