#N:pur-ee:7200002:000:707 pur-ee!malcolm Aug 9 23:53:00 1982 Has anybody looked at the time it takes for the various network control messages (for example the one that requests a copy of the uucp information) to propogate around the network? It seems like this would be a good estimate of the health of the network. My prediction is that it would average less than a day with a REAL LONG tail. Also, has there ever been a official decision about what newsgroups/ maintenance messages a news interface should support? For example notesfiles does not support the .ctl messages (for cancelling) or the senduuname type commands. This isn't a problem yet, because all notesfile sites are also running alpha/beta news. Somedays, it does seem that the Usenet is faster than light. Some of the news received out here in California shows a time posted LATER than the time read. We're in the twilight,...we're in the twilight,... we're in the twilight zone.
