[ I sacrifice this line to thee O great Line Eater] I just got the source to X-windows (V10.4) and was going to undertake the monumental task of implimenting a driver for a pair or Ramtek 9400 graphics displays. I blew off a listing of the Sun driver and after glancing at the 107 page output I said to myself: "Self, we're talking about a major big-time unbelievable effort here. Why don't you see if some other poor soul has done it already.". Being a mostly reasonable sort and taking my own advice, I turn unto the net and inquire: "Has anybody managed to make this go yet?". I am currently running 4.2BSD (hoping for 4.3 soon) on a VAX 11/780 and have the Ramteks tied to a Unibus adaptor. I am using a minorly hacked driver from Duke University (was originally written for a PDP 11/23 and a 780 is just a wee bit faster :-)). I might have access to a Ramtek 9460 soon but I assume that anything that will run on a 9400 will work there also. I figure that this task may not be as bad as I first thought because a lot of the stuff that is implimented in software is actually incorporated in the Ramtek itself making less code and faster execution. -- Bob Meyer Calspan ATC seismo!kitty!sunybcs!cald80!bob decvax!sunybcs!cald80!b80!

Why not ask to be a V11 implementor? I believe there is a bootstrap server by some DECWRL people that is supposed to be easy to bring up. Ken
