[comp.windows.x] starting X-windows from init on VaxStation

edwards@husc8.HARVARD.EDU (Bill Edwards) (04/14/87)

I am trying to set up a VaxStation 2000 running Ultrix 2.0 to run X-windows
from init, and am having no luck. I am using Ver. 10 Rev. 4 of X. Has anybody
succeeded in starting X up from init? Invoking '/usr/new/xterm -L' instead of
'/etc/getty ...' yields the error message 'xterm open failed <NEWLINE> : No
such file or directory'. What else does one need to do? How should the
'window=' option be employed? If this has been covered in this newsgroup
already, please simply email responses. Thanks very much. -- Bill Edwards
