[comp.windows.x] Please use -I in X program makefiles

mlandau@Diamond.BBN.COM (Matt Landau) (04/18/87)

This is just a brief plea to people writing X programs that they
plan to distribute in source form. *Please* don't assume that
your source is going to live in /usr/src/X/<program> and that you
can reference include files as ../include/Xlib.h or find bitmaps
via ../bitmaps/foo.bitmap; instead, use simple filenames in your
source code and take advantage of the compiler's -I flag to locate
include files. That will make life much simpler for those of us
who keep your programs in, say, /usr/local/src/X/public/<program>.

And, as Frank Bartles woudl say, "We thank you for your support."
