A number of requests have come in to the X mailing list for info about obtaining CLU. Here is a summary of what is involved and how to do it: To obtain the CLU distribution you (or your institution) must first sign a licensing agreement and then send $50 for the distribution. There is a commercial and an educational license. The fee for the commercial license is $5000. The educational license is free. The educational license has restrictions on what you can do with CLU or the CLU programs you develop (mainly no commercial products) and is NOT limited only to eductaional institutions. To obtain copies of the either or both licenses send a request with a non-electronic-mail address me (PRJohnson@pm-prj.lcs.mit.edu) or: Paul Johnson 545 Technology Square, Room 531 Cambridge, Mass. 02139 The distribution includes all executables, binaries, and sources for the CLU compiler, linker, debugger, assembler, editor (TED), and various utilities. Some documentation is included. For more information about CLU itself consult the "CLU Reference Manual", Liskov et. al., 1981, Spinger-Verlag, ISBN 0-387-91253-3 or ISBN 3-540-91253-3, and/or "Abstraction and Specification in Program Development", Barbara Liskov and John Guttag, 1986, MIT Press (ISBN 0-262-12112-3) or McGraw-Hill Book Company (ISBN 0-07-037996-3). ---Paul Johnson (617) 253-1945
