[comp.windows.x] X on Non-Bitmapped Screens or under System V?

Has anyone heard of any work being done to either port X to a
System V environment (public domain or even commericial S/W),
or to make a subset of X work on non-bitmapped screens (like
ordinary terminals)?  Thanks,
