[comp.windows.x] X windows on a real-time process scheduling kernel

sawtelle@well.UUCP (Don Sawtelle) (07/23/87)

I would like to hear from anyone who has experience making X run on top
of a real-time scheduler kernel such as PSOS or CEXEC.

I would also welcome opinions from those who have just thought about doing it.

CEXEC implements a set of calls which are similar to those provided
by a Unix kernel. The set of calls provided by PSOS are not similar to
those provided by a Unix kernel--though I imagine they are functionally
as rich.

I wonder if it is a lot harder to support X in the PSOS case, with the
functionality there, but expressed in a set of calls which is not like the
Unix kernel.

Thanks...
