HELP!!!!! I'm looking for a Postscript previewer that works on xwindows!! I needed for a project I'm working on (UROP), were we are working with bit-images made by a scanner and an IBM AT, and that can be saved in the Postscript language. It would be very useful, and in fact it is one of our objectives, to be able to display these images on xwindows. I heard from the people at Adobe that MIT and Digital are working on such a program. Please if anyone has heard anything about this or nows somebody who might know, leve me a message (RVIDA@COMET.LCS.MIT.EDU). Thanks; Rafael Vidaillet Offc. #510 on NE-43 Ext. 6042

It is supposed to be a public domain X -> raster scan converter, with interchangable backends. There is a version on hoser.berkeley.edu, BUT as far as I can tell it doesn't work. There are three versions: VAX, Sun 68010 and Sun 68020. I have tried the Sun 68020 and VAX versions. On our machines, they don't work. The source does not appear to be available. The author is currently on an archeological dig in Israel. He's supposed to come back mid-August. I'll bug him when he comes back to post something here. This is all *I* know, so I can't answer questions. In addition, I believe Sun has one for sale. I think it only works on Suns. The object is cheap and the source cost some large fee (understandably). Seemingly, everyone in town wants a PS / X previewer. Dan Greening Internet dgreen@CS.UCLA.EDU UUCP ..!{sdcrdcf,ihnp4,trwspp,ucbvax}!ucla-cs!dgreen
