In the past couple of days I have seen the newsgroup net.suicide removed by pyuxmm!netnews, recreated by alice!news, and again removed by pyuxmm!netnews. This seems somewhat silly. There needs to be some "official" usenet policy on the removal of newsgroups. Unless the newsgroup was created by accident, like the perennial net.joke, the least that should be done is to post an article to both net.news.group and the newsgroup to be removed proposing that it be removed. Then wait a few days to see how people respond. My feeling is that if someone really wants a newsgroup, then it should be allowed to remain. If you don't want it on your system, then explicitly exclude it in you sys file! - Eric Bustad (houx*!machaids!ekb)

net.suicide was NOT created by accident. It was proposed and then deliberated on for a while and then created purposefully.
