I am running X 10.4 on a Sun 3/110 color display, and the "xbob" program fails. It moves the bobs around, but does not erase them. As a result, the screen becomes covered by overlapping bobs. i also have the Xerox patches installed to Xlib and the server. They installed perfectly, but did not solve the problem. Is there any fix for this? The same problem occurs on all other Sun 3's I tried. I have another problem that shows up on a 3/280 (my server) but not the 3/110. Sometimes letters have boxes of a different color around them. It seems to only happen with variable-width fonts, and only if certain colors are used for the letters. Are there any more patches out there for these problems? -- Doug Braun AT+T Bell Labs, Murray Hill, NJ m10ux!braun 201 582-7039

The reason that Xbob fails to erase the bobs is that some functions, XTileFill in Xbob's case, are not implemented in the Sun server. I have fixed the program by drawing the background over the bobs the same way that the bobs gets drawn. The man page Xsun(8c) documents the unimplemented functions.
