I just sent Jerry Schwarz a long note about his netnews etiquette document, most of which I agree with completely. I'd like to run one suggestion by the readers of this group to see if anyone agrees with me. I am getting quite tired of some of the fads which seem to be everpresent in the submissions to this net. One example is the "I'm not afraid to sign my name" statement and variants. It was cute and entertaining once, but it's becoming tedious on the 500th iteration. I'd suggest that part of netnews etiquette is to avoid the tendency towards being "hip" and "in." --Rick ...decvax!microsoft!uw-beaver!uw-june!furuta (uucp) ...ucbvax!lbl-unix!uw-beaver!uw-june!furuta or Furuta@Washington (ARPAnet)

The thing I'd really like to see go away is those encrypted jokes -- if you can't post it unencrypted, don't post it at all (I'm not trying to sensor people here, but looking at all those things is sort of a pain.....) --Dave Curry P.S. - I run notes, so please don't tell me about the 'n' key, I know.
