RWS@ZERMATT.LCS.MIT.EDU (Robert Scheifler) (10/08/87)
I am setting up a new mailing list: xtensions@athena.mit.edu The purpose of this list is to connect people who are seriously dedicated to the technical evolution of X; people who are real "thinkers" and "doers", not mere "readers" and "gadflies". I would like to be able to use this list as starting point for discussion of proposed extensions and changes. After incubation, the discussion would then move either to some existing list such as xpert, or to a newly created list (as was done with 3-D). The purpose of this list is not to exclude public comment on proposals, but many of the people I would like to reach do not read xpert and other mass mailing lists due to the low (for their purposes) signal to noise ratio. I would like to keep mail on this list crisp and to the point. I would like to keep the list relatively small, on the order of one person per "organization" (of which there may be several within a company). If you would like to join this list, please send mail to xtensions-request@athena.mit.edu Include your full name, postal address, phone number, net address you want on the list, and some statement convincing me that you are sincere. I am happy to have redistribution addresses on the list, but I want to know who the "real" people are behind them.
