I'm very eager to see it.

I can see the advantage of having some of Andrew's user-interface
features available under X, and thereby (via the X11 server protocol
emulator) under NeWS: I will be able to run binaries from all of
{Andrew | X11 | SunView | NeWS} on my screen at the same time. I can
have GNU Emacs thinking it's in X mode right next to a dbxtool right
next to Mona Lisa right next to the "orbits around two fixed planets"
game/demo. And I'll have a great time at it (I was given a bumper
sticker this morning that reads "Better Living Through Complexity").

But boy-oh-boy, will it ever confuse the uninitiated (read: sophomore
CS students just coming up from Mac-land, and even a lot of far more
experienced folks) when they all look, feel, and behave differently.

We'll have to be even more careful in designing Baby's First Window
Environment when all that capability is out there. Our local Baby's
First X set-up has been fairly well received, but to provide an easy
expansion path as users learn the ropes gets harder and harder when
there's more and more expansion available.
