[comp.windows.x] xconq for XV11R1

kwh@sei.cmu.edu.UUCP (10/28/87)

I have translated xconq from X10 to X11. While Stan Shebs works on the new
version, those of us who want to play xconq under X11 can do so now. The
only changes I made were in the code dealing with X10. I was an interesting
learning exercise for me. The Makefile produces x11conq so you can have both
versions hanging around. I also used the font converter to move the game
piece fonts. All in all it was fairly simple. It dumped core when I tried to
tell X11 to do a tiled fill (using the FillTiled fill style and a pixmap I
made and filled with XFillRectangle), but I haven't played around enough to
know where the problem was. Most likely it was me, not X11. I got around it
easily enough -- it was a solid color tile, so I just did the XFillRectangle
on the area that was supposed to be tiled and everything went just fine.

To acquire x11conq, do an anonymous ftp to di.sei.cmu.edu. A compressed tar
file is in pub. The uncompressed/untar'ed files are under pub/x11conq. I
have only played with it on a monochrome uVax, so color may not work at all
(you may only get monochrome graphics out of it). Have fun.
