RWS@ZERMATT.LCS.MIT.EDU (Robert Scheifler) (11/28/87)
1. Fixes are available via anonymous ftp to zap.mit.edu (18.72.0.126) and decwrl.dec.com (128.45.0.1) in files with prefix "FIXES". Fixes get put there in batches at intervals only. 2. Individual fixes and batches can be obtained by mail by sending a message to xstuff@apx.lcs.mit.edu (address 18.30.0.209). Fixes are put here in a more timely fashion than for ftp. In the simplest case, the message should have a subject line and no body, or a single-line body and no subject, in either case the line should be something like one of these: send fixes 1 3 5 7 send fixes 1-10 15 21-30 To find out what fixes and batches exist, make the line: index fixes If you need help, make the line: help The index will basically just tell you what the highest number fix is, and what batches are available. A "summary" of fixes is not available; if you want fixes, get them all. Flames to /dev/null. 3. Release notes are apparently missing some vitals. After editing your favorite <mach>.macros file, at top-level do make Makefiles make depend # but see caveats in release notes make -k # or without -k 4. lib/X/ks_names.h is a generated file. "make depend" should create it, or you can explicitly do a "make ks_names.h". 5. Send bug reports to xbugs@athena.mit.edu. 6. No, we haven't sped up color on Suns yet. 7. .BodyFont is now .Font in defaults.
