[comp.windows.x] X11 problems on a Sun 3/110 color

palmer@ncifcrf.GOV (12/05/87)

Has anyone else had trouble getting X11 to run on a Sun 3/110 color?
The screen goes blank (white) and no cursor appears. Ideas?

I've gotten it up on a Sun 3/50 and a Sun 3/260 color with no trouble.
I've installed fixes 1-80.

On a cgfour, Xsun will use both the monochrome and color
screens as if they were two separate screens side-by-side.
Sliding the mouse off the left and right edges will swap
     screens.

mine came up in monochrome mode fine, but i found that the cursor would
not move off any of the edges to reveal the color screen. the deficiency
was that /dev/cgone0 did not exist. however, now that i have the color
screen, i can't figure out how to get a window in it. my console window,
clock, etc, are all in the monochrome window. suggestions?

answered my own question. page 5 of Xlib manual says that the display_name
is of the form hostname:number.screen. the monochrome screen is
screen 0 (the default), and the color screen is #1.
