You are invited to review the specification for the Common Lisp User Interface Environment (CLUE). CLUE is a portable system for user interface programming in Common Lisp. CLUE, which is based on the X Window System and the Common Lisp Object System (CLOS), extends the CLX interface to provide an architectural model for the construction of interactive Lisp applications. The design of CLUE is modelled on the Xtk toolkit library. CLUE could be described as a translation of the Xtk "intrinsics" into the domain of Common Lisp and CLOS. We welcome comments from anyone interested in Lisp user interface programming. Given sufficient public interest, our intent is that CLUE will evolve to reflect expert consensus and that a portable public domain implementation will be made available. The following files are available by anonymous ftp from ZAP.MIT.EDU in the directory /contrib/clue. LaTeX files: clue-typeset.tex (main file) clue.tex clue-typeset.index clue-typeset.dvi Formatted ASCII: clue-text.text Other: changes.text clue-readme.text (this message) Comments on CLUE should be addressed to cl-windows@sail.stanford.edu or to one of the addresses below.
