During the past few weeks, we have been developing Oops, an object oriented drawing program (ala MacDraw) which runs under XV11. We are nearing completion and looking into distributing the program to the X community if there is demand. We support all the standard tools found in such programs including bezier curves and text items. We can load bitmaps and display them as objects although they can't be edited (in the future, a paint layer would be nice). We hope to include the ability to load MacPaint bitmaps as soon as we look into what the Mac's PackBits call does. Postscript output is provided for hardcopies. Grouping/ungrouping and locking of objects will be supported. Unfortunately, we only had time to support black and white objects with gray levels for fill patterns. (Is color that useful considering you can't reproduce it on hardcopy?) Fill patterns may be supported as soon as we figure out how postscript handles it. Editing occurs on a single fixed size 8x10 page with no support for scrolling the current document in a smaller window. Although, we do support multiple drawing buffers using Emacs-like commpands to change/create/load/save etc buffers. We have been running Oops under X11 on Sun 3 workstations. We have also done limited testing on Dec Vax 2000's running X11. Anyhow, I was wondering what demand there is for such a program. This is our first X-windows program and we haven't really kept up with the needs/wants of the X community. Also, if anyone is interested in getting an alpha copy of Oops in the next couple weeks, just drop me a note.
