[comp.windows.x] X for VMS

greenber@swatsun (Peter Greenberg) (07/06/87)

Is there a currently available version of X that will run under VMS,
specifically for the VAXstation II running MicroVMS version 4.2?

Do I deserve to be ruthlessly flamed for what may very well be a naive
question? No flames about the hardware, please, I am just doing my job.

It's rumored that Xv11 will be a officially distributed by Dec with
VMS version 5.0, in about 6 months.

(It is indeed remarkable that Dec on the east coast is talking to
Dec on the west coast, where X is being written. I'm sure it's a
temporary aberration. Of course, the terminals group is still
 somewhere else entirely.)

Nope, why is it naive? There's X's (in various states of undress) all
over the place.

Can anyone tell me if there is a version of X windows for VMS? How can I get
a copy of it, preferably via anonymous ftp?

Please reply to system@larry.mcrcim.mcgill.edu, I do not normally read this
newsgroup.

Thanks.
