Within the next day or two, IBM will be placing the sources for the Andrew Toolkit on zap.mit.edu in /contrib/andrew.andrew.tar.Z. This version of the toolkit has been built and tested primarily on RT PCs running 4.3, and we envision that users of other computers will need to take some special actions in order to build it. At CMU, we are now in the process of testing the installation procedures on other computers, and we expect to provide detailed instructions on building the toolkit by the end of the week. In addition, we will then make available extensive documentation in postscript form. While groups interested in the toolkit should feel free to ftp the sources, we recommend that they wait to build it until our instructions are available. We should note that IBM and CMU are undertaking this early release of the Andrew toolkit to permit us to make improvements prior to the Release 2 X.11 tape. Therefore, we seek comments from all interested parties. These should be sent to andrew-toolkit-info@andrew.cmu.edu.
