[comp.windows.x] TeXX - Where is it?

grunwald@uiucdcsm.cs.uiuc.edu (02/09/88)

The entire package can be had via anon FTP from a.cs.uiuc.edu, in the
file pub/TeX/iptex.tar.Z (compressed tar format)

Updates to the previewers are in pub/TeX/previewer.tar.Z.

TeXx has been lagging behind TeXsun in updates, mainly because I don't use
TeXx any more (X-11 is still to slow). If someone would like to update it,
I'd appreciate it.

Some things which have been added to TeXsun & which didn't make it into TeXx
are:
+ the mouse is tracked when you're looking at the expanded view,
allowing you to pan over the document

+ the OPEN, EXPOSE & DELETE buttons work, and the AGAIN button
allows you to re-read the document (meaning you don't need to
restart TeXsun for an editing cycle)

+ complete tpic support (minus shading). TeXx has simple support, but
Tim Morgan, who added the support, didn't add it to TeXx.

Other than that, it's still a reasonable previewer.
