[comp.windows.x] a question from an X beginner

ruffwork@orstcs.CS.ORST.EDU (Ritchey Ruff) (02/28/88)

I've just started using X on a UTek machine and there is one
tool that I have gotten use to on the Xerox Interlisp-D machines
that would be nice for X: to take a "snapshot" of an any region
of the screen and put that into a (bitmap) window of its own. It would be
accessed from the background menu. This is so
handy I can't imagen someone hasn't written it already. Pointers?
(oh, I'm still under x10.4, but if you know of this tool in x11
I'll take it anyway).

thanks a 10^6,
