I, too have had some trouble ftp'ing from expo, even though I'm only on
the other side of Cambridge. My problems were slightly different,
however. I would get in and use `mget *', and expo might or might not
send all the split files. In one case it sent all but one. After some
hair pulling and retransmission (luckily very good transfer rates),
and being more careful to check that all the files and lengths tallied,
I uncompressed and extracted the directories. Haven't tried to make
anything yet, though...
