[comp.windows.x] X11R2: UWM Gripes and Bugs

urban@spp2.UUCP (Michael Urban) (03/17/88)

1. UWM appears to handle mouse clicks, icons, and windows incorrectly.
If my .uwmrc file contains an action for left button on icon,
then left button in window is also trapped by uwm (and does nothing
but change the cursor to the left-button-down cursor). The
   application cannot see the click.
2. I suppose it's a feature that "named" icons in uwm accept keyboard
input focus when the mouse enters, but it's surprising and annoying
   the first time it happens.
3. It would be nice if uwm put nice frames on windows a` la wm (but
more aesthetically pleasing). I thought someone had already done
that? Can such frames be highlighted when the window gets
input focus? Can tools like the clock tool supply hints to
such window managers so that they don't get a title bar?
4. The toolkit intrinsics include support for parsing of "standard"
command arguments. These standard arguments should include
support for tool icons similar to SunView, i.e., whether the
tool should start up iconic, the icon location, and command-line
specification of an icon bitmap file.
