I was going through my papers today, and chanced upon this bit
of ancient nostalgia (over 21 months old!):

That's only 24 machines (a far cry from today, when it's a challenge
to draw a network map that's planar!).
This got me thinking: wouldn't it be nice if some of the inventors of
netnews (from Duke, Berkeley) would reminisce about the early days of
the net? Why it was started, how it grew, etc. Any takers?
