[comp.windows.x] X-windows on 386-PC's

milo@ndmath.UUCP (Greg Corson) (04/25/88)

I've been considering buying a Zenith 386 PC (partly because I work real
close to the factory and get a BIG discount) and I was wondering about
one thing.

Does any current version of Unix for the 386 come WITH X-windows included?
Particularly a version of X that supports the Zenith dual display card
(CGA EGA I think).

If nobody includes X windows with unix...what is a good combination of
vendors to get Unix and X from? By chance does the current MIT distribution
contain drivers for any of the display cards likely to be used in a 386 PC?

One final question...does anyone know if X has been ported to run on
an EPIC (AT&T) VISTA graphics card?

Please send mail, I don't get in to read news very often.

Try:
	Bell Technologies
	330 Warren Avenue
	Frement, CA 94539
	415-659-9097

We have two of their 386 boxes with Hi-Res 19 inch displays
and X Windows 10.4. Very nice... and a lot faster than our Sun 3/50!
