Ah-ha! I thought my machine was the only one. :-} If you look at the build tree (do you know what I mean?) you will see that there are a bunch of symbolic links in .../include/X11. One of the symbolic links (Atoms.h) links to StringDefs.h. When the installation was done those links didn't get made. I dunno why. I hand linked Atoms.h to StringDefs.h. So if you create a symbolic link called Atoms.h which links to StringDefs.h your problem should be solved. There might be more links that need to be built. Haven't discovered them yet. I'm not responsible for maintaing X11 here, I just grope around with "find" and chew up lots of CPU/disk cycles... >links in .../include/X11. Somebody sent me mail and told me that the files that I wanted (X11/Atoms.h, X11/TopLevel.h, X11/VPane.h, X11/ButtonBox.h) are from the R1 distribution but have been supplanted by some other files in the R2 distribution. Unfortunately, he couldn't tell me which files to try to use instead... Thanks for the help. ;-D on ( On a Dodge: "Friends don't let friends drive Chryslers" ) Pardo
