There were some patches for this posted a while ago.

Whenever I get a copy of the X11R2 toolkit manual, I'll spend the couple
of hours needed to do TeXx ``right''. And this time, I'll have both big &
little endian machines to test it on.

So, pardon the garbage, it was my first X11 hack.
