Does anyone have a verification or benchmarking suite for the X server and Xlib? Is the X consortium supposed to produce benchmarking or verification software as part of their next release? I'm sure that we're not the ONLY ones thinking about developing such software.

A consortium of companies (more than a dozen) has been working very hard to produce a comprehensive test suite for the server and Xlib. There are already "touch" tests for just about all functions, and "full" tests are in progress. The software is currently only available to those organizations directly contributing to the effort, but the intention is to hand the results over (when completed) to the MIT X Consortium for general distribution and possible standardization. Some work on benchmarks is also in progress. Is the X consortium supposed to produce benchmarking or verification software as part of their next release? The test suite being developed is expected to be in a future release, but not the next one.
