An Open Look question for you Sun and AT&T employees:
According to the Open Look product overview, "The OPEN LOOK GUI provides
software developers with a consistent programming environment for creating
a wide variety of applications."
Does this mean within a given Open Look API or between all APIs?
Specifically, how much work is involved, if you already have, for example,
an application written for the Sun NDE API, and want to port it to use
the AT&T XT API? Seemingly contrary to promises of standards and consistency,
the descriptions of the two APIs sound like two different worlds from the
programmer's point of view. Is the user the only one who is being promised
a standard here?
In general, could someone out there who knows, discuss the portability of
applications which use one Open Look API to other Open Look APIs?
