[comp.windows.x] How do you use a xbackground?

dkovar@bbn.com (David C. Kovar) (05/18/88)

I picked up quite a few files that describe themselves as X background
screens. I took this to mean that they could be used to replace the normal
grey background screen via some mechanism but I've yet to figure out
what this mechanism is. Any ideas, hints, et al? Thanks.

You want the `xsetroot' command. Try:
	xsetroot -bitmap filename
