[comp.windows.x] hardware support for X11

lauwers@orc.olivetti.COM (Chris Lauwers) (05/24/88)

At Olivetti, we are developing a new workstation with an internal 32
or 64-bit data path and a 386-like CPU architecture. We would like X11
to execute as efficiently as possible on this system. Since we are
also developing a high-resolution video controller for this system, we
would appreciate receiving inputs regarding any hardware support in
the video controller that would benefit X11 performance.

Possible examples are: hardware window map, double frame
buffer, special state-saving registers, hardware cursor, etc.

Please be specific in your suggestions. Thanks.

Gee, I'd like to see the responses to this one too. Could the
net accomodate me?
