Is there any reason why packages which get added to expo do not also get added to the xstuff server? It is very frustrating for people who can't ftp expo to know that all these things exist but have no access to them. Julian Payne, European Silicon Structures (ES2) (payne@latlog.uucp)

It isn't part of our job description, and our time, energy, disk space, and CPU cycles are better directed to other tasks. Stuff placed in contrib/ is not placed there by us, and we feel no obligation to actively redistribute it, except in the course of our normal releases. Also, we get enough hate mail as it is from postmasters about use of mail for bulk data transfer. It is very frustrating for people who can't ftp expo to know that all these things exist but have no access to them. Sorry. (It is also frustrating for people who try to provide a service to get requests to do even more :-)

As my uptime increases I hope to catch up with the stuff available on expo and make it available via an info-server at IC. Since we get real mail bills it will be only available inside the UK. If you want this to happen then you have to gently prompt me every once in a while and buy me a Coke at conferences :-> Lee -- UKUUCP SUPPORT Lee McLoughlin "What you once thought was only a nightmare is now a reality!"
