[comp.windows.x] rtl

bader+@ANDREW.CMU.EDU (Miles Bader) (06/30/88)

A huge amount of the code in rtl uses macros as lvalues that officially
(according to H&S) aren't lvalues (because they are casted). Our C compiler
doesn't let you get away with this, making it a royal pain to compile rtl.

Miles,

Sorry about that! We have not been able to compile rtl on a
great variety of machines. This code compiles without complaints
using Sun's C compiler, so we were unaware of the problem. Is it
possible that you could send me a list of filenames that contain
violations? We will then correct this problem (and the > 14
character filename problem that was mentioned) and make a new
release. Thank you for letting us know of problems with rtl.
